I'll answer that question for you: yes. If you are thinking of using a ridesharing app in the United States, you have two primary choices, and the clear choice is Lyft.
What is Ridesharing?
The easiest way to explain ridesharing is that it's hailing a taxi, made simpler. You download the Lyft app from the iTunes App Store or Google Play Store and input your credit card information...and you're good to go.
Why My Credit Card Information?
Using Lyft means that cash doesn't exchange hands, and you don't have to fumble with a credit card to pay your driver when you reach your destination.
How Does it Work Then?
Let's say you just landed at the airport. Your hotel doesn't have a courtesy shuttle, and you have decided to save money by not renting a car. Open the Lyft app. Input your current location, which Lyft helps you pinpoint with location services. Select your destination and see an estimate of the cost. When you submit the ride request, you can see the driver who is on his/her way, including a photo of the driver and information about the car. These details, coupled with information about where your driver is, makes the short wait for a ride go by faster. More importantly, knowing when your driver has arrived and which car you're looking for makes both of your lives even easier.
What Happens When the Ride Ends?
When the ride ends, you hop out of the car and use the app to pay, tip, and rate your driver.
Okay...But Why Lyft?
For one thing, Lyft isn't uber controversial. In addition to having great drivers, a well-designed app, and promotions that show Lyft values its community, Lyft has a great program called Round Up & Donate. You can opt-in to round up the cost of your rides and contribute to the following impactful causes: Black Girls Code, Girls Who Code, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, ACLU Foundation, World Wildlife Fund, Human Rights Campaign, USO, and Habitat for Humanity.
